James Hatley

CEO
James Hatley founded a project development company, Hatley Engineering and Applied Technologies Inc., whose mission is to offer mining companies the ability to accelerate the development of projects through technological innovation, best practices in project management and governance.

Rashid Bashir

Dr. Rashid Bashir has been appointed to the role of President of Hatley Engineering and Applied Technologies Inc.

Dr. Rashid Bashir is an Associate Professor of Geotechnical/Geoenvironmental engineering in the department of Civil Engineering at Lassonde School of Engineering, York University. He earned his Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario with specialization in contaminant hydrogeology and computational mechanics. Dr. Bashir has more than 20 years of experience in areas of Unsaturated Soils Mechanics, Geotechnical and Geoenvironmental Engineering, Mine & Contaminant Hydrogeology and Computational Mechanics. Dr. Bashir also sits on the Board of Directors for International Minerals Innovation Institute (IMII) which is a supportive network of mining companies that exists to deliver innovations that matter to mining in Saskatchewan.
Kimm Barker
Senior Consultant Safety Leadership
Kimm Barker is a Senior Consultant supporting Hatley Engineering. His 26-year career has concentrated mostly on mining and major projects, but also has significant experience in heavy construction, agriculture, power generation and oil and gas. He has held various leadership roles in Health, Safety, Environment and Quality, most recently spending eight years in BHPs Minerals Americas Potash group as Manager Safety. Kimm has a technical background in Engineering.
Kimm specializes in development of integrated HSE management systems with a focus on risk-based management frameworks for projects, construction and operations. He has advanced expertise in incident investigation of major events and proven success designing logical programs that motivate teams to plan and complete their work with a higher level of risk control by minimizing unnecessary, complex or non-value adding administrative processes. He has built a reputation as a caring leader who delivers exceptional results in safety performance and cultural improvement.
Connor Hatley
Financial Manager
Connor runs financial controls for the company including banking, payroll, taxes and financial analysis for the company.
Isabella
Engineering Student
Isabella is a second year engineering student, studying at the University of Saskatchewan - College of Engineering. Isabella joined the company to help with surveying and quality control.
Saffron
Engineering Student
Saffron is a third year electrical engineering student and studies at the University of Saskatchewan - College of Engineering. Saffron joined the company to provide an engineering student perspective to educational programs.
Our Team, Our Network, How We Add Value
Our team has a number of associates that have all worked together on large mining projects and mine sites before. We are used to working on remote sites, long shifts, and irregular hours to meet the demands of the project. We equally enjoy our time off with our families and celebrate project milestones with our team mates along the way.
In addition to our experience, we add immediate value to your project as our overhead is minimal compared to most firms, we do not own office buildings and laboratories, we work remotely (thank you COVID-19) yet together on a secure network and team platform
